Each year the William Boyle Foundation holds an under 21 competition, the overall winner receiving $1,000.00 prize money and a trophy. The competition is made up of 8 different u21 events, spread across 4 different qualifying contests (each contest hosting two events).
The qualifying contests are:
Points System: 10 (1st) - 6 (2nd) - 4 (3rd) - 2 (4th).
The best 3 combined results out of the 4 nominated competitions will determine the winner. In the case of a tie, the highest number of points (from the above system) for Piobaireachd will decide the winner. The trustees have decided that the Christchurch competition is a compulsory event.
This competition can only be won once by any competitor.
Two tunes to be submitted for each event including Piobaireachd for all of the competitions.
For those William Boyle Foundation competition winners that wish to advance their piping careers we strongly recommend they take a serious look at Category A in the foundation grant literature. The foundation is very supportive of those who wish to acquire knowledge and push their personal boundaries on the competition front.
